Live in the moment- Luxury fine art wedding photography

“There is a kind of serenity in love which is almost a paradise.”

” I can’t believe it’s 5pm already, it seems like two minutes since I was having my hair and make up done this morning…..” I hear this so often on a wedding day, as a couple realise their day is simply flying by with hours passing like minutes. It’s a mixture of excitement, adrenalin, a hectic schedule and having SO much fun. The hours slip by and before they know it the day has become evening.

Peace, serenity, stillness. There’s almost never any of these on a wedding day. The day is so busy, so hectic running to a timetable, there are so many people to see, spend time with and so many stages to move through. It’s almost impossible to stop, take stock for a moment and just BE.

From the moment you wake on a wedding day, there is a plan to follow. Hair and make up, a champagne breakfast with bridesmaids or groomsmen, preparing little ones, checking plans, organising everyone. Then there’s the getting ready, putting all the finishing touches to the dress, the shoes, ensuring everyone in your wedding party is happy and knows what their roles are, sorting out buttonholes and bouquets… the list goes on.

Then before you know it you are at the ceremony and the next hour rushes past you, as you see your fiance, and all your guests and finally become husband and wife. The whirlwind continues with the celebrations as everyone rushes to see you, share the joy and celebrate with you both. It’s incredible, uplifting and overwhelming.

Imagine stopping it all for a moment, almost freeze framing what’s in front of you and really soaking it all up. Imagine simply just living in that moment…

You will be surrounded by the people who mean the most to you in the world, all the details and styling you’ve spent months and months deciding upon will all be laid out before you, and most importantly of all, you will just have become someones wife or husband. You will be married. You will have been dreaming of this day for months, and will have put your heart and soul into every single element. So to take just a few minutes to seek calmness and stillness on the day allows you to contemplate it all. To live in the moment.

Serenity is hard to find in our lives generally, I know. We are all so busy, with so many pressures on our time, but to me a wedding day is one day when just a few minutes alone, pausing and breathing in all the love can be absolutely enriching.

It helps you absorb the memories, it allows you a moment to really appreciate the fabulousness of the day and the privilege of sharing this moment with people so precious.

Your wedding day flies by. It’s no exaggeration to say that. It’s a heady concoction of fabulous excitement, happiness, joy and so much fun. My advice to all my couples is to enjoy every second and to take just a few minutes in the day to pause. It will provide you with a memory you didn’t expect and it will be one you will cherish for a lifetime.

““Peace is present right here and now, in ourselves and in everything we do and see. Every breath we take, every step we take, can be filled with peace, joy, and serenity. The question is whether or not we are in touch with it. We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment.”
