A York Minster Wedding- Becky and Aaron

Baptised only last year in the ancient crypt of York Minster, Becky knew she would love to marry in the magnificent surroundings. The Minster holds such a special place in this couples hearts, and so after a baptism by the Archbishop of York, the couple were granted special dispensation to marry at the minster, by the Archbishop of Canterbury. What an extraordinary honour.

As befits this magnificent setting, the couple chose to have a full madrigal choir and chorus along with an orchestra and even trumpeters to accompany their very emotional ceremony.

I will never forget, for the rest of my life, the sound of the choir singing Handels Zadoc the Priest as the couple signed the register. As I looked around the 100 plus guests, many were dabbing away tears as the haunting sounds rose up high in the minster and clung to the air long after the last note. A moment in life never to forget.

So onto the details, and there were so many. Becky wore an Ian Stuart gown, Andalucia. She also accompanied it with a fur jacket from Mulberry bought for her by her new husband. Her necklace was borrowed from the grooms mum, her little lace pumps were designed by Harriet Wilde. Her gorgeous florals and there were lots of them, were created by Firenza floral design. They scented the day at every turn.

I loved the underwear from Liberty in Love complete with her new married initials on.

The bride also chose to layer her perfumes. She got this tip from Jo Malone staff who advised her to add to her usual scent to create a unique one for her wedding day, so she should always be taken back to the day whenever she wore the 2 perfumes. A beautiful idea.

So here are a few sneak peeks of this most incredible of weddings.

It was an enormous honour to be a part of this. All weddings are emotional and all weddings make me cry. But I did genuinely feel very overcome when the choir began singing and the trumpeters played. The sense of history was quite overwhelming.

Many congratulations to the new Dr. and Mrs. Brown. Have a fabulous honeymoon. It’s been a joy to work with you both.
