Wedding stories #1 Stranger kindness.

Charlotte and Lloyd are full of initiative. This beautiful wedding photo was not taken on location at their venue. It was actually someone’s back garden.

Yes, a rather grand back garden I grant you,but nevertheless this was someone’s back garden, who they barely knew. I told you, full of initiative.

The couple had chosen a beautiful village church to marry in at Thornton near Leeds. But the church had no real grounds to speak of for their portrait shots. They’d also chosen East Keswick village hall for their reception which was the most lovely venue, but with no real grounds to speak of either. And it was important to them both to have some beautiful portraits captured. So what to do?

Well, they came up with a rather cunning plan to find the perfect location for their couple photographs. In the weeks before the wedding they discovered the village had an open gardens day, so they visited, looked around all the delightful gardens and settled on one they had fallen in love with. They gingerly knocked on the front door and explained to the rather taken aback owner, that they’d love to come back in a couple of weeks on their wedding day and have photos taken here. With true Yorkshire kindness the owners agreed! I still can’t quite believe that !

So on the wedding day we found ourselves knocking on these kind strangers door, asking to be allowed into the stunning gardens sheltered behind the house.

They welcomed us with open arms, greeted the couple like long lost friends, led us through the kitchen, past the teenagers still in pyjamas, and out onto the vast landscape lawns. Somewhat surreal.

And this beautiful little lake with its own pontoon was the perfect spot for some romantic portraits.

We will all be forever grateful to the lovely owners of this stunning garden for their generosity of spirit and total kindness.

I will also always be grateful for couples who care so much about their photographs, that they go to great lengths to ensure we have the perfect places for images.

Full marks Lloyd and Charlotte for being my most enterprising couple to date.
