Red berries, summer sunlight and lace – The Marriage of Chris and Kat at Oulton Hall – part 2.

As the frosts get deeper and the final few days before Christmas are here, its been lovely to wallow in a little late summer sunshine today.

Kat and Chris’ wedding was supposed to be a chilly autumnal affair, instead they had one of the hottest days of the year for their late September wedding. It was absolutely glorious.

If you missed the first part of this wedding, you can catch up on all the prettiness HERE You’ll find out about  all the details and see the preparations through to portraits and even an impromptu first dance in the sun.

We left our couple about to head in for dinner. By the time the speeches began, the sun was gorgeously low in the sky and through the soft blinds of the Repton room, it cast its gentle rays over the speakers.

With such beautiful light to play with, we made the most of our 2nd set of images and headed back out into the gardens for some romance.

Of course, this was autumn time, and we wanted to capture its rich colours and vibrancy in the images for Kat and Chris. Hedgerows of berries and golden and ochre foliage did that for us. This was such a wonderful backdrop for photographs.

As the couple were heading over towards the venue for their evening reception, I spied a gorgeous soft carpet of leaves, rich in velvety reds, burnt orange and smouldering yellows. I just knew we had to jump in !

And Kat and Chris bravely agreed, ( me having made sure the ground was dry beneath of course!). It made for some of the most wonderful images to end the day, and left Kat and Chris giggling for quite a while – especially as some early arrivals for the evening wandered past wondering what on earth we were doing!

Dried off the dusted down, ( not a mark on either of them!) the couple then headed inside for the first dance. Deep purple lights seemed rather appropriate for this beautifully colourful wedding.

What happy memories of a really fabulous day, and oh the heat. How lovely would it be to have a little of it back again now?!

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Haigh. Thank you for trusting us. We wish you a lifetime of happiness and love together.
