Tears and Oasis

My name is Cat Hepple and I cry at weddings.

There I said it. I do. I cry, not full blown wailing you understand, just the odd tear at a moving speech, a beautiful story or a simple tender moment.

I can’t help it. I get drawn in and hiding behind a camera and lens doesn’t help.

Dean and Keeleys wedding was particularly moving for me. I know them both, and have known them for several years. Dean is the brother of one of my closest friends in the world.

This photograph was taken as one of the couples friends did a reading at their ceremony. He’d written it himself. It was so completely moving and included lyrics from several songs including Oasis.
Dean and Keeley were overcome with emotion.
Everyone was overcome with emotion.

I’m not ashamed to say I shed a few silent tears too. It was a truly beautiful few minutes in the day.

All weddings have these times. I don’t have to know a couple as well as these two to be drawn in. It’s what my job is about. Understanding the significance of these fleeting moments and recording them, so they are never forgotten.

Being a sensitive and emotional person is no bad thing as a photographer. I hope this image shows that.

Dean and Keeley viewed all their images today. You simply cannot put a price on the value of a shot like this to them. Its precious beyond belief. I am truly honoured to capture this for them, and all my couples.

What an extraordinary job.

The full set of images, from this gorgeous sunny and happy wedding will be blogged very soon.
