Love is a friendship which has caught fire – Rebecca and Neils Oulton Hall wedding final part

So I’ve almost reached the end of blogging this incredible wedding. This is the final part of the trilogy. Rather like Harry Potter fans, who are a tad sad at the final movie, I will miss writing about these beautiful images and this very special couple. This final part is a veritable feast of images and details. So pour yourself a glass of something cold and sparkly and indulge…

I love details. I love how much time and effort my couples always seem to put into their wedding details, from the flowers to the table plan, the name cards to the colour scheme. There’s a reason many weddings take months or even years to plan, and details are it !

Rebecca and Neil put an incredible amount of time and energy into every last detail of their wedding. Not just what to have, but how to make it all, as they made virtually everything themselves. So impressive !

Their favours for example were made from the score of their first dance, filled with bonbons and topped with hydrangea petals in their colour scheme. They made every last one of them. They also made the table plan and every single name place card.

Their tables were named after important places to the couple, so the top table HAD to be Roundhay park- the spot where Neil had proposed all those months ago. SO romantic.

The speeches are always great fun, and I really enjoy hearing the stories about the couple and seeing everyone relax and enjoy the fun. There were also some very tender, emotional moments during these speeches. The kind which remind you why we celebrate marriage.

I will never forget the words Rebecca’s father used as he talked about his cherished daughter. It brings a lump to my throat even now.

The highlight of course is usually the best man’s speech and there were 2 of them at this wedding, so no doubt double the fun.

Nothing however could have prepared me ( or the poor wedding co-ordinator) for what followed. It involved a blow torch, a sausage and some tin foil…. you had to be there !

By now the drizzle had cleared and the sky was a soft grey with low cloud. In that soft diffused light it was a perfect chance to take the lovely couple out into the gardens for some more images, while their guests relaxed and prepared for the evening reception. I love this time of day. Everyone is so much more at ease, with the formalities over and couples love the chance to slip away for just a few minutes to be together ahead of the night time celebrations. Rebecca and Neil really enjoyed this time together, walking chatting, cuddling. I know its a part of their day they’ll always cherish.

It was a chance to capture some touching, tender moments.

I always like to sprinkle a touch of Cat Hepple photography glamour into the weddings we photograph and Rebecca and Neil both looked so incredible I decided it was time to create some movie inspired images. The grand piano and the sumptuous chairs in the main entrance were just begging to be used.

And in her stunning Benjamin Roberts gown, Rebecca looked utterly beautiful, so a couple of quick shots bravely lying on the corridor floor were called for – some of the couple’s evening guests were a little perplexed to see this as they arrived, I hope it all makes sense now!

Unusual I know, but SO worth it, and only achievable because Rebecca was so brave and trusted me. Thank you Rebecca for going with it !

Finally, the first dance.

Before Gaz and I headed off into the night to leave the wedding party to enjoy their celebrations I wanted one last shot – oh ok then, a few more shots!

The clubhouse at Oulton Park has the feel of a hunting lodge and on my venue visit with Rebecca and Neil we’d have a good look around. I found some rather gorgeous wooden shutter blinds at windows on one side of the building. I had a plan in mind…

The perfect end to a perfect day.

And a perfect shot to draw this wonderful wedding to a close.

This incredible wedding is going to be featured in the launch edition of Yorkshire Bride Magazine and I’m so proud of that and SO delighted for Rebecca and Neil that all their hard work will go on to inspire other couples planning their big day.

Mr and Mrs. Charlton are a truly fabulous couple, and they were an absolute pleasure to be around. Their wedding was utterly beautiful, and after getting to know them I’d have expected nothing less of this warm, gentle and sweet couple.

It was an honour to photograph your wedding Rebecca and Neil.  I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness. Stay fabulous.

Thank you so much for understanding exactly how we wanted our wedding to look and feel. These photographs are not only beautiful works of art, but capsules of some of the best moments of both our lives. These momories will not only be forever in our hearts, but forever in our beautiful album. It means so much to us to have these wonderful experiences frozen in time and that is what is so inspiring about your work. You manage to not only capture an image, but a thought, emotion and a moment that will now last a lifetime.
    We cannot thank you enough.
